Get Longer Dive Times
Computer Nitrox Diver.
SDI’s Computer Nitrox Diver course enables divers to breathe compressed air with a higher than normal % of oxygen. It will provide the scuba diver with the knowledge and skill to dive with nitrox mixtures from 22 to 40 percent oxygen using a dive computer. Diving with Nitrox can increase your bottom times, reduce fatigue, reduce the effects of nitrogen narcosis, and reduce your chances of decompression sickness.
Who this course is for:
- Any certified open water scuba diver who wishes to expand their diver knowledge and skill set
- Any certified open water scuba diver who would like to advance their dive training
Course prerequisites:
- SDI Open Water Scuba Diver, SDI Junior Open Water Scuba Diver, or equivalent, or current enrollment in one of those courses
- Minimum age 18, 12 with parental consent
The SDI Deep Diver minimum requirements:
Students are required to successfully complete the following:
- Satisfactorily complete the Online SDI Computer Nitrox Diver Program with a passing score of 80%, followed by an academic review with the Instructor
- Hands-on classroom training must be completed including analyzing nitrox cylinders, programming your dive computer for nitrox diving
- Demonstrate mature and sound judgment concerning dive planning and execution
What you can expect to learn:
How to plan and execute dives within the range you are qualified using Nitrox as your breathing gas.
Topics include:
- Physiology of using different breathing gas mixtures and equipment considerations for using nitrox
- How to safely use nitrox mixtures up to 40 percent with a dive computer
- Advantages and disadvantages of utilizing nitrox mixtures, how to analyze a nitrox mixture
- Review of decompression theory and dive tables
